Spring Night Out

Spring Night Out

I am always drawn to pieces that have a very architectural feel.  This gorgeous dress from LucLuc is under $60 and looks like it is such a more expensive, couture piece!  When going with an embellishment with this much punch, sticking to a neutral color keeps it sophisticated.  The cage booties are a great touch– they have such little coverage that they work three seasons, and are perfect for a spring night out!  All this outfit needs is a few bold accessories, these Alexis Bittar earrings and stainless steel bangle do the job marvelously.  A cool-tone smokey eye and neutral glossy lip are the perfect makeup pairings for this sleek look.  For the hair, I’d tease like mad and dutch braid the center into a side bun that lands opposite the fluffy shoulder of that dress.  Let’s do this Saturday!

Nude Strappy Sandal

I am consistently on the hunt for the perfect nude strappy sandal.  I need something that is fairly walkable, but looks like I made some effort when I throw them on to walk to dinner or out for drinks.  Ideally, it should be something with a shorter heel, and not so many straps that it looks like my foot is into fifty shades of something.   Because my footwear tends to take a bit of a beating in the summer, I try not to spend too much on shoes that I run around in.  For this set, the value added are the perfect pair for me – I think Isola makes a gorgeous shoe and their sandals hold up for multiple seasons. Do you have a summer sandal favorite?

Friends, you heard it here first – Grommets are this year’s studs.  Where your Valentino Rockstuds might be feeling a bit tired, this is an easy way to add edge and look a little more fresh.  Pieces like this JAX Grommet dress are wonderful ways to get the look with minimal investment.  There are still a ton of sizes left in this dress over at Last Call, with the possibility of adding a coupon on top of this already great steal.   And because everything old is new again, take a peak through Refinery 29’s 2013 grommet fashion trend story for some inspiration.  If we’re lucky, some one has ditched these beauties at your local thrift.

Flirty Spring Lashes

Flirty Spring Lashes

Let’s wrap up our gorgeous spring makeup round up with lashes!  I am a mascara junkie, and go back and forth between a few favorites as well as trying any new formula that crosses my way! Around the holidays, I practically doorbust to get my hands on the sephora lash stash sampler-is anyone else obsessed with trying a whole handful of new mascaras?!  Here are some of my true faves for flirty spring lashes:

1||  Cover Girl Clump Crusher –  This is one of my all time fave drugstore mascaras.  For a super dramatic lash, I layer it over something with a lot of thickening power.  In spring, I keep it light and fresh by putting on a few coats of this beauty for lots of shiny black color without too heavy look.  The brush in this mascara is the real winner, separating the lashes and fanning them out beautifully!

2|| Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara – This product is perfect for a fluffy thick lash without being heavy.  What I love about this formula is that it gives you marvelous coverage with just one to two coats; perfect for a spring weekend day when I don’t want to fuss with a lot of makeup.  Just add some tinted moisturizer, and lip balm and you are out the door!

3|| Maybeline Lash Discovery Mascara – Again, the brush is the magic!  This tiny wand truly does get EVERY lash and you can layer the crap out of this baby without it getting clumpy.  The waterproof formula is also perfect if you get caught in a little spring downpour!

4|| YSL Faux Cils BabyDoll Mascara – This is probably my favorite of the bunch, but sadly, it’s such a splurge that I don’t pick it up as often as I should!  The formula gives great silky coverage, and the wand combs through lashes beautifully, layering wonderfully and lifting and separating lashes out in every direction!  This mascara also has incredible hold, so I don’t even need to use a lash curler!

Letting Neon Pop – Add Grey!

Neon pumps and grey jeans

Alexander Wang Tee + Nine West Matte Grey Watch + Faliero Scarf + Rebecca Minkoff Cross Body Bag + Pink Louboutins

Year round, I prefer pairing greys with bold colors so that I’m letting neon pop!  By adding these softer tones to the bright pop of pink and yellow, you allow these fabulous colors to be center stage!  The Rebecca Minkoff is an incredible deal at $125, especially for a bag like this that won’t be an every day (or even every weekend) bag.  I’m also obsessed with these aviators.  Black plastic shades are chic on every occasion, and these do a great job adding a little touch of classic styling to this edgy look.  How do you wear neon accessories for spring?

Floral Pumps : Step Into Spring!

Steve Madden 'Varcityy' Suede Pointy Toe Pump, 4 1/4" heel

Steve Madden || Varcityy Pump|| 67 USD

I have a pair of floral pumps that I am nuts about, and that seem to go with everything.  In the way that Jenna taught us leopard is a neutral , I’d argue that these bad boys are the spring equivalent.  They are the perfect bright punch with all black.  (My New York self still can’t help but be in black head to toe most days!)  Also, depending on the pattern, they can be a marvelous way to pull out and highlight a color from your outfit.  The bar below has all sorts of fun picks! From the dreamy Manolos to the budget Charlotte Russe, there’s a floral pump to be added to your closet this spring!
